Now, the South West of Scotland would doubtless refer to Ayrshore, Dumfries and Galloway, and the western extent of South Lanarkshire . . . perhaps including Braidwood, but preculding Walston? This would certainly also include some, if not most of Argyll and Bute, although the floating extents of Argyll and Bute are often bundled with the monniker 'Highlands'.
